ABOUT HIGHSCOPE INDONESIA

HighScope Indonesia believes that one of the important components of student success is the quality of the teachers. Therefore, since 1996, HighScope Indonesia has continuously developed programs for the professional development of teachers, administrators and staff, and it continues to improve teaching and learning with the ultimate goal of student success.

The series of professional development training in HighScope Indonesia begins when the teachers join the Initial HighScope Training for 2 (two) months. This comprehensive training exposes them to the classroom reality and how to teach effectively in the classroom.

It does not stop there; the principals conduct observation and feedback regularly, and use the data to design accurate professional development, such as training, workshops, mentoring programs, book clubs, and small group discussions. These different kinds of professional development are conducted at least once a week in each school.

As Sekolah Highscope Indonesia continued to grow and the number of members in Indonesia steadily increased, the HighScope Indonesia Institute pondered the importance of having a larger forum to share, discuss and learn from each other. This was the beginning of the HighScope Indonesia Annual Conference.

The HighScope Indonesia Annual Conference is dedicated to building a learning community of teachers, principals and other educational professionals who gather together to reflect on current experiences and practices. This conference offers practical strategies to enhance learning-teaching processes for more than 500 teachers and staff from all HighScope Indonesia schools.

Annual Conference 2024:

Ethical Leaders, Innovative Futures: Bridging Communities for Tomorrow.

In an era marked by rapid technological advancement, social and environmental changes, and growing educational demands, our students face a challenging future. Recent global issues underscore the critical importance of ethical leadership. As communities become increasingly divided, the need to unite and develop innovations that are both technologically advanced and ethically sound becomes paramount. Our future hinges on this unity, which is the focus of our 2024 Annual Conference:

“Ethical Leaders, Innovative Futures: Bridging Communities for Tomorrow."

At our school, we strive to cultivate self-regulated leaders through eight learner outcomes and seven learning components, encapsulated in our principle of 178. This year’s conference highlights one of these outcomes: Ethical Leadership. This concept extends beyond mere adherence to moral principles; it requires leaders to embody our core values of integrity, responsibility, respect, and excellence in their decision-making. Ethical leaders must navigate complex issues by actively listening to their communities and making informed, data-driven decisions while modeling personal integrity and a growth mindset.

We encourage our students to not only lead ethically among their peers but also to extend their leadership to their surrounding communities. Through our Project-Based Cycle, students engage with real-life issues affecting their environments. Education should reflect the context in which students live, with enduring concepts, skills, and values serving as the foundation for long-term goals.

We are thrilled to host our first hybrid conference after four years of fully online events. This year’s conference will feature esteemed speakers and educational consultants, including Scott Barry Kaufman, Sean Layne, Kenneth Shelton, Mike Anderson, Aaron Eisberg, and Julie Wigton, with the latter three joining us in person. We invite educators to empower themselves and their students to embrace ethical leadership amid evolving technology and global challenges.
